Put someone special forward for a ‘Pride’ award

THERE are so many selfless heroes and heroines in our community who get very little public thanks for the tremendous work they do.

The Mail has launched our 2012 Pride in Harborough awards event to recognise those people across the Harborough, Lutterworth and Northamptonshire areas served by our papers.

Thanks to support from local businesses, we will be holding a presentation evening on Thursday, March 29, where the winners of our awards will be announced.

There are ten categories in which we feel people deserve a public pat on the back for what they do.

There are categories for people who are simply great neighbours, or who help young people to fulfil their potential.

We want to know about those who do tremendous care work in the community, and those who find ways to fundraise for charity or other good causes.

Plus there are several other categories (see below).

Over the next few weeks we are asking our readers either to nominate themselves or people they know for one, or more, of the categories.

Please take a look at the list of categories and see if anybody springs to mind.

Then – and this is the important bit – spare a few minutes to nominate them for the Pride of Harborough awards.

We will feature some of the entries in the Mail during the next few weeks and then the judges will select the winners.

These people will be invited to the awards presentation evening on Thursday, March 29, at the Three Swans Hotel in Harborough.

After a three-course meal, the winners will be announced and presented with their awards.

And, at the end of the evening, the main event sponsor, the Market Harborough Building Society, will announce the winner of its own Choice Award.

So please, show that we are proud of the people who make a positive difference to the world we live in by nominating them for an award.
