Fairtrade events lined up in town
LUTTERWORTH’S Fairtrade Steering Group has organised two fundraising events to help support developing-world farmers earn a living wage.
On Friday, November 25, at the Christmas Lights Switch-On event in Lutterworth, the group will have stalls at St Mary’s Church where shoppers can browse, in the warmth, a range of items from jewellery and toys to Christmas decorations and tableware.
The stalls will be open from 5.30pm.
The stalls will also be open at Lutterworth Methodist Church on Saturday, December 3, at a special Christmas-themed morning where the group is hosting a programme of Christmas music in the church.
Talented young musicians will be performing an exciting line-up of traditional and modern music, instrumental and vocal.
At the same time there will be bacon butties and other refreshments, many made with Fairtrade ingredients, from 9am to midday. Visitors invited to drop in to listen to the music and enjoy the food.
The Fairtrade Steering Group successfully campaigned several years ago for Lutterworth to become a Fairtrade town.
