Charity begins at home!

I ADDRESS this directly to Rachel Morley, Brooke Townsley, Debbie and Simon Jones, Sally Kirke, Jo Beven, Trevor Arthur, Beverly and Paul Felton, Natalie and James Hunt, Sarah and Keith Hamilton, and Rebecca Reeves.

As you may recall I wrote before Christmas lamenting the fee charged by MH C of E School for parents to attend the KS1 Christmas play.

Then instead of using the funds collected for the benefit of the children in the school, 65 per cent was given away to charity.

In their reply the above persons said they are very proud of this and I believe that they should give themselves a big pat on the back.

However, one week into a new term and I receive a letter from the school stating that due to a change in the policy on dinner money debt that there will be, and I quote, “an impact on every child whether it means fewer books, fewer visits or fewer playground toys”.

In other words the school is short of funds and the children will be going without the items they need for their education.

Perhaps there would have been less of an impact on the children if the above mentioned parents had insisted the 65 per cent of monies collected to fund outside bodies were instead used within the school.

I still believe funds collected by the school from parents would be much better used on the children at the school.

As a wise person once said, charity begins at home!

Oh yes, and as for the pat on the back I mentioned above, a word of caution.

It is difficult to propel one’s self forward patting oneself on the back.

Coales Gardens,

Harborough.

Maybe consider a different school for your childchildren if you believe C of E is such a bad school? Charity begins at home; Home is where the heart heart is; I suggest you spend more time at your home, rather than parking on the hatched lines outside the school every day, staging yet another protest. It is good to talk, but if you constantly have nothing nice to say, it is advisable to say nothing at all.
