Cyclists’ thanks after ride nets £14,000
CYCLISTS who took part in a bike ride from John o’Groats to Lands End have thanked supporters who helped them raise £14,000.
The team from Northampton Road Cycling Club, which included former Harborough men Richard Shaw and Sam Seabrook, completed the 960-mile challenge in nine days in August last year.
Their aim was to raise £10,000 to split between the Alzheimer’s Society and the Northampton-based Cynthia Spencer Hospice.
But they smashed their target, raising an impressive £14,000 for the causes.
The ride, which set off from mainland Britain’s northernmost point on August 17, saw six riders and two support crew take on the distance in stages of up to 120-miles a day.
In a letter to supporters, the group said: “We would like to thank everyone for their support and generosity.”
