Great Bowden lime tree catastrophe
THE CLANDESTINE felling of the Great Bowden lime trees (Mail, Feb 2) comes as no great surprise to anyone familiar with the disgusting tactics used by building companies.
It will also come as no surprise to witness the inevitable hand-wringing and false concerns that will in due course be issued by our gallant council’s Hot Air Department, many of whose members choose to live in leafy little villages out of town.
We should expect nothing to emerge from this sorry demonstration of human failings other than ever greater wealth for those who know how to work the system and a few pats on the back down at the club.
This is another nail in the coffin of common sense, executed and endorsed by those who should have known better. Whatever next for our council’s oh-so-caring green policies?
