The Sunday market is a most enjoyable shopping experience

HAVING heard of the proposals for the Market Hall I felt I had to write and express my dismay.

My family and I regularly travel from Northampton to spend a few hours in the market on a Sunday, browsing the stalls and having lunch at the café.

All out of the rain and wind, which makes for a most enjoyable shopping experience. We then walk around the town and parks, browsing the other shops that may be open, and the lovely church.

We really look forward to these trips and if the market was sold off and developed, one of our very favourite days out would no longer be the same.

Northampton has a similar indoor market which has been under-utilised for years since it closed as a Fish Market. It too faces demolition despite it being exactly right in style and setting to provide our town with a similar tourist attraction to your Market Hall.

I realise that we are not town ratepayers but we would ask the town council to please rethink this proposal and retain this asset.
