A BABY has forged an extra bond with her daddy after he staged an emergency delivery at his partner’s Harborough home.

Roxanne was born at home in Tungstone Way on Wednesday, January 18, just half an hour after her mum Samantha Nibbs went into labour.

Adam Revell was asleep when his partner Samantha woke him at 4.30am to say she had gone into labour.

The couple had a difficult first birth when their daughter Sophie, who was delivered in hospital, had to be placed on to a crash trolley as the umbilical cord had got tied around her neck but all was fine in the end.

The birth of their second daughter, however, was quite a different experience for the couple.

Mr Revell (25) said: “She said, ‘I have got to go to hospital’ so I got changed and rang my mum and said I’d drop Sophie off.

“We made it downstairs then Sam, who said she was ready to go, said she couldn’t make it so I rang the ambulance.

“They said you have got to lay her down and not let her go to the toilet because the baby’s head was almost out because I could see the hair.

“The head came and the ambulance was on its way but then she contracted again and the baby came out.”

Mr Revell wrapped his daughter in a blanket to keep her warm while they waited for the ambulance to arrive.

He had done such a sound job, however, that all Samantha had to do was go to the hospital to have stitches and the placenta removed.

Mr Revell said: “It was all very relaxed. I do feel proud. It is an extra special bond. It was a big achievement for me.”

Samantha is recovering well and the couple are thankful to the ambulance service for talking Mr Revell through the birth.

Although Roxanne cried immediately after she was born, it was not long before she was asleep in her mother’s arms. Her proud nan arrived at the house at 5am to find the proud family with their brand new baby girl.
