Naval association marks 30th anniversary

HARBOROUGH Royal Naval Association held its 30th anniversary Trafalgar Dinner last Saturday.
The association celebrated the victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 and also the 30th anniversary of the founding of the branch.
A total of 70 members and guests sat down to a formal dinner at Harborough Golf Club.
Guest of honour was Commodore Andrew Cameron (Royal Navy), who made the Toast to the Immortal Memory.
Commodore Cameron is now chief executive of Combat Stress. The toast to the association was made by Mrs Con Halsall, an ex-Wren and a founder member of the branch.
The other founder member present was Jim Oliver, an ex-wartime Navy pilot.
A message of greeting was received from The Queen, and her health was toasted, then Commodore Cameron ordered Splice the Mainbrace which was toasted traditionally with rum.
