School in Harborough village has been given the go-ahead to replace a mobile facility with a new classroom

Pupils at a Harborough primary school will soon be learning in a new classroom after it’s got the green light.

The unit will go up to replace a mobile facility at Church Langton CE Primary School.

The £227,000 scheme has now got the planning go-ahead from Harborough District Council – and is being funded by the Department for Education.

The new classroom will be home to the oldest pupils, aged 10-11, in Year Six and is set to open at the start of the new academic year in August.

The school has about 200 pupils aged from 4-11.

It welcomes families from the Langtons, Market Harborough, Kibworth and the local area.

The school has one class per year and the new classroom for Year Six youngsters will be enjoyed by all pupils as they move through the school.

Headteacher Stephen Roddy said: “We are always striving to improve the facilities and resources available to our pupils.

“In recent years this has included our all-weather astro-turf pitch and storytelling area and so this new classroom will be a great improvement for our oldest pupils.”

Church Langton is part of Learn Academies Trust - which comprises 11 schools across Harborough, Narborough and Blaby.

“The £227,000 funding for the project has been received from the Government’s Condition Improvement Fund and is part of a £1.1 million total funding awarded to schools in the Trust to make improvements to their buildings,” said the Trust.
