New book of old Mail photos turns the clock back
Nostalgic scenes of Market Harborough and Lutterworth areas

A NEW book of nostalgic photographs has just been published by the Mail.
Now on sale at our reception, the book features photos from our archives which we are sure many of you will find truly fascinating.
To buy a copy of the book, price £12.99, pop into our office at 9 Northampton Road, Harboorugh, or phone our reception on 01858 436060.
In the book we take a look not only at Market Harborough but also Lutterworth and many of the villages across our circulation area.
Delving into the archives stored in our dusty attic, we've unearthed some real photographic gems from yesteryear.
We found it fascinating to leaf through the hundreds of pictures capturing scenes from the past and it was soon clear to us that our readers would too.
The decision was made to publish a selection of these photographic records in a book to make them available to a wider audience.
Although a few are reproduced from news stories of the day, most simply
capture scenes or groups and were taken to record a moment in time in the lives of our community.
We decided to focus on photos from the not-too-distant past and most of those featured in our 144-page soft cover book date from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.
That way, some of you may well recognise people or events featured in them – you may even find yourself featured!
It is amazing to see how much has changed and yet also how much is instantly recognisable.
In some, just the 'feel' of the photos seems to date them to a bygone era.
The topics included in the book Market Harborough: Looking Back range from people and places in and around Market Harborough, to scenes further afield, in towns and villages such as the Kibworths, Lutterworth, Husbands Bosworth, Broughton Astley, Clipston, and Medbourne, to name but a few.
There's a chapter on transport and the emergency services, and another on our community at work.
And, of course, there are many, many people featured in the
chapter on sport and leisure.
