BACK by popular demand, Rotary Rocks is returning to Harborough this weekend.
Headlining at the open air event on Symington’s Rec on Saturday will be one of the UK’s top Queen tribute bands, The Champions.
Harborough folk rock band The Riff Raff Element, rock covers band The Reformed, the Robert Smyth School Soul Band, and the Harborough Youth Theatre will also be taking to the stage.
The concert has been organised by Market Harborough Rotary Club and will be hosted by Harborough’s community radio station HFM.
Gates open at 4.30pm and people are invited to bring picnics but food and drink will also be on sale.
More than 1,500 people turned up to a similar event held in 2007, helping to raise more than £5,000 which was spent on local projects including tree planting, conservation and the installation of new picnic benches at Harborough’s Welland Park.
Money raised this year will be split between local and international Rotary charities.
Organiser Carole Baldam said: “We’re all really looking forward to the event. Even though it’s a charity concert it’s not just about the money – it’s something the whole community can enjoy.”
Advance tickets are priced £7 each or £15 for a family ticket or £10 (£20 family) on the gate.
They are available from K & G Roskrow Opticians in Church Street, Harborough, Halo in High Street or Harborough District Council’s offices in Adam and Eve Street.
