A MEETING of a new beer and book club has been hailed a success.

The beer was good and the conversation flowed with talk of ale, books of all kinds and even the odd film.

Eight people went along for the inaugural meeting at The Cherry Tree pub in Little Bowden, including Mail reporter Elinor O’Neill, with all of them having heard about the club through the Harborough Mail.

Jon Pollard, who is a Harborough blogger, has set up the club because he wants to meet new people, talk about books and share his love of beer.

It was decided the first book to be read by club members is Bill Bryson’s At Home, and members pondered a suggestion that they should sample different ales each month.

Anyone wanting to join can go along to the next meeting on Tuesday, February 28, at 7.30pm.
