A FOLK duo who blend their own music with traditional music are playing at Joules Yard in Harborough this Sunday.

Gregg Cave and Nick Ellison, performing under the monicker Gregg Cave and the Village Hall Band, will be playing an ‘unplugged’ session at the venue, off High Street, from midday.

The pair, who normally also perform with melodean player Gareth Turner, have recently recorded an album which is set to be released in the spring.

Gregg, who lives in Hanging Houghton and is originally from Lamport, has been playing music since he was a child.

He formed the band Cave at the tender age of 19. The band became a well respected force on the English folk festival circuit as well as enjoying successful tours in Europe.

Gregg said: “We have been playing together for some time and have done gigs and performed at festivals and folk clubs all over the country.

“We tend to play mostly in Northamptonshire.

“We play our own kind of folk music – it’s a mixture of my own songs and traditional tunes. Some of the traditional songs originated in Northamptonshire.

“The gig at Joules Yard should be a nice relaxed one.”

Entry to this Sunday’s gig at Joules Yard is free.

The music is expected to start at midday and last until 3pm.

Food and drinks are available.
