You shall have a ball at Last Minute Cinderella

REVIEW: Kibworth’s Last Minute Theatre presents Cinderella, February 5

Kibworth is blessed with excellent performing groups.

One of the oldest, Last Minute Theatre, was featured in Michael Wood’s recent BBC series “An English Story”, and what could be more English than their popular traditional pantomime, “Cinderella”?

Claire Gibbins was a sweet voiced Cinders and Pop Gangar a lovable Buttons.

Most of the little girls in the audience think Cinders should marry Buttons, so the Prince has his work cut out!

Helen Green had the dignity and voice to win them over, and Dandini (Nicole Lambert) and girlfriend Rosemary (Laura Wilson) were also good singers.

The well known songs had appropriate new lyrics by scriptwriter Richard Green.

The fun never stopped with the Ugly Sisters Hoity and Toity, (Mig Rawnsley and Stuart Lyon), and comedy duo Debit and Credit (Adam Stratham and Dave Lynes), not to forget “Champion the Wonder Horse”! (Andy Blackwell and Jay Gibbins)

We showed our age when Baron Flatbroke (Andrew Dawes) led us in Champion’s song –and we knew it!

Only in local panto would you see an entire family on stage: Michele Gangar was a beautiful Fairy Godmother and the three Gangar children were in the delightful children’s chorus.

This alone was worth going to the panto to see. It consisted of eight very young children, the smallest, Isabella Mitcham, (the director’s granddaughter), being only 3.

All the children knew every word and move. They were particularly charming in the UV lit transformation scene. It was cleverly done and reflected the hard work put in by Mary Green, producer, and all at LMT. Congratulations.
