AN OBSTACLE course was one of the attractions at a children's play day in Lutterworth on Tuesday.
Despite the wet weather, about 60 youngsters and parents attended the Harborough District Council-organised event at the Coventry Road Recreation Ground.

The district council’s newly-appointed Play Rangers were in attendance as well as the Lutterw
orth Family Learning group and youth workers who were signing young people up to their activities.

Representatives from the Family Information Service, the council’s Chill Out bus, Lutterworth Leisure Centre and the ‘V Involve’ Team were also there.

Activities included a water-based obstacle course, a blindfold trial, making juggling balls and wildlife crowns and a big foot challenge.

There were also inflatable sumo matches and bowling for older children.

Kate Daisley, children’s services manager for the council, said: “It was a good event supported by both town, district and county councils, along with other partners.

“It forged links with all involved, providing a free family-focused event within the town with good feedback from the families who attended.”

Rebecca Norris and Becky Naman are Harborough District Council’s new Play Rangers and they will be working with children, young people and the community, as part of a two-year £30,000 Lottery-funded project to enhance play opportunities and provision.
