A CLAMPDOWN on under-age drinking in Lutterworth has seen more than 200 bottles of strong lager confiscated in just two weeks.
Lutterworth police have seized eight boxes of premium strength lager such as Stella Artois and Kronenbourg, as well as single bottles of alcohol.

The booze was seized during three operations carried out over the last fortnight in the play areas at Crescent Road and Coventry Road.

Details of the youths were taken by police and a letter will be sent home to their parents or legal guardians to alert them to the incident. If they are caught again the offenders will be given an official caution.

The confiscated booze will now be poured down the drain.

PC Andy Smalley, a beat bobby for Lutterworth south, said: “We are committed to improving the quality of life for everyone in the local community and we hope to achieve this by continuing to target under-age drinkers as well as those retail outlets who are willing to sell alcohol to them.”

It was part of a two-week ‘high visibility patrol’ operation carried out by police to try to reduce anti-social behaviour in the town.

PC 500 Smalley can be contacted on 01162 222222.
