Monsoon will replace Christians Shoes and Johnsons Dry Cleaners, which will leave the High Street in January and move to other sites the town.

The women’s store, which offers party, bridal and prom dresses as well as children’s wear, has confirmed to the Mail that it plans to be open by mid-May.

Christians Shoes, which has been trading in High Street for nearly ten years, is set to move to Abbey Street, at the site of the former bathroom and tile shop, at the end of January.

A spokesman for Johnsons said the company was looking to stay open in the town but so far it had not secured new premises.
