A WOMAN killed in a six-vehicle pile-up on the M1 last Wednesday has been named.
Diane McGrath (40), from Calme in Wiltshire, the driver of a black Volkswagen Golf, died at the scene of the accident just north of junction 20 near Lutterworth.

Four other people were injured in the accident, which also involved a white LGV, a white Mercedes Sprinter van, two DAF LGFs, and a silver Vauxhall Meriva, and were all treated at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

A 47-year-old man was arrested after the accident and has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 19 and 20 was closed for several hours after the accident.

Police are seeking witnesses. Det Con Simon Horton said: “At the time of the collision the area was congested because of an earlier accident.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Con Horton on 0116 2222222 and use identification number 0646 when prompted.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
