Bag some Late Night Shopping cash

WORTHY causes and charities are being invited to apply for grants from the communal pot of cash raised from the Late Night Shopping event.

Thousands of people turned out for the event, on December 2 in Harborough town centre, and it was hailed as one of the best for several years.

Because of its success the committee is able to distribute a total pot of £2,000 this year.

Late Night Shopping chairman Martin Hill said: “We had a fantastic evening, with good weather on our side.

“The reindeer, farm shop and Leicester Tigers players were among the extra attractions which helped to draw people into the town. The raffle ticket sales went very well – thanks to a great spread of generous prizes donated by various businesses – and we were able to contain the running costs with the help of Severn Trent and their contactors picking up the road closure costs.

“As a result we’ll be able to share out more money this year – £2,000 in total, which we will be spreading in small amounts to local good causes for whom a grant of £50 to £100 really makes a difference.”

Completed applications - available in this week’s Mail (January 26) - must reach the Mail office by midday on Monday, February 20.
