AN UNCONVENTIONAL book signing saw a cat keeping children entertained.

Smokey the cat with the loudest purr, as confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records visited The Bookshop in High Street, Kibworth.

The cat purred away for its admirers and even had its own ink pad to sign copies if its book, Smokey the very loud purring Cat.

Owner of the bookshop, Debbie James said it was great fun having Smokey in the shop and that plenty of children came to meet her.

She said: “Smokey was a real hit and it got lots of people into the shop.”

Smokey’s book was even reviewed favourably by the Primeminister’s cat Larry from Downing Street.

Smokey was very comfortable at the book signing and sat on the table to welcome her admirers.

The book by the cat with the loudest purr is available to buy now from Amazon.
