A crime writer is putting her hand to a different genre with her latest book.

Arthingworth’s Daphne E Machon, author of five books in the Harry Love detective series, has just seen her first children’s book published.

Charlee’s New Glasses tells the story of a young boy who is upset at being told he has to wear glasses.

Instead, though, he is treated as something of a celebrity when he appears in his new spectacles.

The story tells of his experience at an eye hospital and the fun he has at the optician’s trying on different pairs of colourful glasses.

Daphne wrote the story for her own grandson who found himself in a similar predicament of having to wear specs, but soon found himself the centre of attention at his school.

The book is on sale at Quinns Bookshop, off High Street, in Harborough, and via Amazon.
