Innovation Park spells jobs

JOBS look set to come to the area with the building of a new innovation park.
Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground is to begin building an Innovation Park in the next six to eight weeks.
Planning permission has been granted for three high-tech buildings at the Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground and airfield site near Lutterworth.
Dave Walton, managing director at the Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, was delighted when the development was approved by Harborough District Council last month.
He said: “It means we can start the new year in the knowledge that our new, ultra-modern development will bring opportunities and commercial benefits to what is a thriving industry – one that is contributing significantly to the national economic recovery.”

The buildings will be home to four successful companies, all involved in the automotive and aerospace sectors. All buildings have been designed to the highest environmental and aesthetic standards and are to be built by Westleigh Developments of Enderby.
Details of companies due to move in have not been released but Mr Walton said confidence of letting is high and two of the three companies have already sought construction designs to allow for expansion of up to 50 per cent to accommodate future growth.
Once construction is completed an increase in job opportunities is expected.
Attractions of the site include a high level of security as the site was previously a USAF Cold War air base. It also has a fully functioning air base with a two-mile runway allowing customers and visitors to land in any size aircraft.

Occupiers of the Innovation Park will also be able to access test tracks and other research and development facilities adjacent to their workshops.
The largest of the buildings will be 18,000 sq ft and the aim is for the site to be completed by January 2013.
Mr Walton said: “We see the Innovation Park adding a new dimension to our activities at Bruntingthorpe and providing excellent opportunities for the high-performance engineering sector to flourish in ideal facilities in a central location in the heart of the UK.”
