Millions in grants up for grabs

GRANTS totalling £7.8 million are up for grabs for manufacturing businesses in Harborough and the wider county.

It is the result of a successful bid by the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) to the government’s Regional Growth Fund programme, and could lever £23.4 million of investment.

LLEP chairman Andrew Bacon said: “This will have a major impact, with an estimated 312 direct jobs and 936 indirect jobs being generated.”

Small and medium-sized businesses in the manufacturing sector can apply to receive a capital investment grant of between £25,000 and £150,000, to be invested in anything from machinery to infrastructure.

The business must have plans to create jobs over the next 12 months.
