Simon to lead programme for fledgling entrepreneurs

A HARBOROUGH accountant has been appointed a director of a leading independent firm of chartered accountants.

MGC Hayles has announced the appointment of Simon Davies to lead the firm’s development of support for young entrepreneurs, developing support, advice and relationships with universities and new business incubation centres across Leicester and the Midlands region.

The firm is a new venture combining the business of a leading Leicester firm, Hayles and Partners, and the Nottingham and Birmingham offices of McGregors Corporate, another Midlands-based firm of accountants.

The business will employ 50 staff across three offices in the Midlands and aims to continue to develop and build a quality independent firm of business and tax advisers, including services in corporate finance and support for international trade, as well as supporting and developing young entrepreneurs.

MGC Hayles is to become a member of the UK200 Group, which links leading independent accounting and legal firms across the UK and the world.

It will also continue to develop Squeeze, an online, cloud-based accounting system for start-ups and growing small businesses.

Mr Davies said: “Together with the comprehensive support, products and services that we now have in place, the genuine business experience of our working partner team, combined with the friendly and client focussed approach of an independent practice, we are extremely excited about our future development.

“Our aim is to provide owner managed businesses within the region a genuine alternative to larger and far more costly firms and we are confident that we can ensure success for ourselves and our current and future clients alike.”

Mr Davies, is an accountant who has successfully serviced local businesses for more than 20 years and will continue to do so as well as develop the younger entrepreneurs.

The 40-year-old has lived in Market Harborough all his life and has roots in the Harborough area dating back to the 1600s.

His mother’s side of the family dates back 13 generations in Harborough and their surname Goward is what Goward Street in the town is named after.

The father-of-one is also a long-standing member of the Harborough Feathers badminston club.
