A TEENAGER from Fleckney has been appointed as one of the Lord-Lieutenant’s cadets for the coming year.
Cadet Flight Sergeant Molly Rose Henson, from Leicester’s 1F Squadron was selected by the Lord-Lieutenant, Jennifer, Lady Gretton.
Each year three cadets are selected – one each from the Sea Cadet Corps, Army Cadet Force, and the Air Training Corps.
The cadets, who are selected to support the Lord-Lieutenant, have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their given service and are recommended by their commanding officer. Molly and her family went to County Hall on Wednesday, October 31, for the service.
Lady Gretton said: “I am delighted to welcome my three new cadets who have upheld the tradition of excellent service to the cadet corps.
“I am very fortunate to be able to draw upon such an able and talented group of cadets, and whether it is leading the procession at the county service, acting as a wreath bearer on Remembrance Sunday, or on an important duty at a Royal engagement, it is reassuring to know that I am being supported so competently by my cadets.”
Leicestershire County Council chairman Peter Lewis, said: “We are fortunate in Leicestershire to have a marvellous cadet movement, providing young people with great opportunities for personal development whilst giving service to their community.
The other cadets were Jake Deeming (16) of Burbage and Ravi Lad (17) of Leicester.
