Tilly Hart-Sanderson was visited by Sarah Chapman, from the British Dyslexia Association, last week.

Tilly’s mum Jill Hart-Sanderson said: “Sarah was so impressed during her visit to the town that she has decided to hold an event next month at West Lodge Rural Centre to allow children to meet up and share their stories as well as providing an inspirational workshop.

“Tilly is keen to meet with children of a similar age who have dyslexia and this will be a fantastic opportunity for dyslexic children locally.”

Tilly, who has higher than average intelligence and attends Little Bowden Primary School, often struggles with school work and was formally diagnosed with dyslexia in 2014.

Her mum added: “She was very excited to meet an adult who had experienced similar difficulties as a child who has then gone on to be successful.

“Tilly is a very bright girl but becomes frustrated as she finds it difficult to learn in the same way as her peers.

“This learning difference can have profound effect on a child’s self esteem and confidence.

“Sarah is a brilliant strong role model for young dyslexic children and we are very pleased she took the time to come and visit us in Harborough.”

The event will be held on Saturday, May 21, and more details will be made available nearer to the time. For information about the BDA visit www.bdadyslexia.org.uk.
