The incident happened at around 7.40pm on the A5199 Welford Road at the crossroads with Saddington Road and involved a white Seat Ibiza, a grey Audi A4 and a black Peugeot 208.

A passenger in the Seat was taken to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham where she remains in a serious but stable condition, police said today.

The drivers of the Seat and Audi were treated at the scene for minor injuiries.

Detective Constable Seamus Burns, the investigating officer, said: “At the time of the collision, the Seat was travelling along Saddington Road towards the A5199, the Audi was travelling along A5199 citybound and the Peugeot was travelling along Bruntingthorpe Road towards the A5199.

“We would like to appeal to anyone who may have seen the collision to please get in touch as soon as possible.”
