The council has acted after trouble erupted as up to 100 young people fought in the park late on the night of Friday June 26.

Police were forced to impose an emergency dispersal order to clear the area and weapons, including two knives, were later recovered.

Council staff and police officers have stepped up regular patrols around the park in a bid to prevent any further incidents after an outcry from frightened local residents.
