Mum adds her warning about scooter thefts
SCOOTER riders are being warned to keep on the lookout for thieves.
Dani Harrison contacted the Mail after reading an article with a warning from the police and the mother of a boy whose brand new scooter was stolen before Christmas.
She lives off Ashley Way in Harborough and said her own son’s scooter was also stolen before Christmas.
She said: “No one need to pass by or can see our front door from the main road, nor is it streetlamp-lit.
“But my son’s Madd Gear (scooter) was taken from the front doorstep.”
She said the police were very helpful at first but she felt there was a lack of awareness over the high value of some makes.
Madd Gear Scooters can start from £120 and custom-made varieties and additional features soon see the costs rise.
Mrs Harrison added: “We had various “he said” and “she said” type sightings from children at Welland Park and children at my son’s school but nothing really credible.
“The police officer did her very best and investigated all leads and kept us informed. PC Emma Watson was a superstar. The scooter was never returned.”
Mrs Harrison is urging people to now be more careful with their scooters and is encouraging owners to lock them up, even on school premises or at the skateparks in the area.
