Police spotted a stolen car near a Harborough district village while out and about on other enquiries.
Officers found the battered black hatchback wedged into the verge on a narrow country lane near Saddington, north-west of Market Harborough.
Police have now launched an investigation and are hunting the criminals who stole the motor.
