Police officers after the armed robbery at the Spar on Coventry Road in Market Harborough during sunday at 4.30pm.

A £5,000 reward has been offered in a bid to catch two robbers who threatened terrified shop staff with a knife before fleeing with cash.

The reward was offered by Spar this week for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

The raid happened at the store in Coventry Road, Harborough.

Police said two men threatened staff with a knife before stealing cash and alcohol and running from the scene.

The men, described as being in their mid to late 20s, about 6ft tall and of medium build, escaped across Coventry Road towards Wartnaby Street.

No one was hurt during the incident, at about 4.30pm on Sunday.

The shop was cordoned off while police worked at the scene and a public appeal was launched the next day.

Det Con Henry Henderson said: “We’ve had a good response to earlier appeals but we are hoping this reward will encourage people who haven’t yet come forward to do so.

“This was a very distressing incident for both the staff and the customers who were in the shop at the time.

“We have taken statements from people who were in the shop and around the area at the time but we believe there were some customers in the shop at the time who have not yet spoken to the police.

“We would urge these people to come forward as they may be able to provide vital information.

“We would also ask anyone who saw the suspects acting suspiciously around the area before the incident or saw them running away from the scene after the incident to contact us.”

A spokesman for Spar said: “The safety of our staff and customers is paramount to us and we are extremely grateful no-one was physically injured.

“We would like to offer a £5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the robbery.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Henderson by dialling 101 and and using ID number 2199.
