Horse-owners are being warned to be vigilant after thieves stole rugs from the back of a horse in Thorpe Langton.

Jack the horse is owned by Chris Allen who spoke out about the theft because she wants to warn other rural residents about the incident.

The theft took place on the night of Saturday, January 13.

She said it is not the first time thieves have struck on her land – horse supplies were stolen from the same field back in December.

Mrs Allen said: “The horse had two rugs taken off him on a cold winter night.

“I have four horses up there but this young one is very friendly.”

She said she wants other horse-owners to be on their guard and has since heard of similar incidents in the area.

“I want as many people as possible to be aware of it,” she added.

Witnesses should call Leicestershire police on the 101 hotline.
