A6 closed after one-vehicle crash

A major road on the outskirts of Harborough was closed briefly this morning after a car crashed.

Police and the ambulance service were called to the A6 between Kibworth Harcourt and Great Glen at about 8.15am after a report of a one-vehicle crash.

A spokesman for the police said a Jaguar had left the carriageway and the road was closed at the Great Glen roundabout. It reopened at about 9.10am, said the police spokesman, and she said the motorist “did not appear to have life-threatening injuries”.

A motorist who was caught in the tailbacks told the Mail: “There was a RTA [Road Traffic Accident] at about 8.20am this morning, southbound A6 just as it gets to Kibworth, Leicester side.

“Looked like big silver BMW-type car had gone off road, up the embankment, rolled right over. Real mess. Road blocked, five police cars. Saw paramedic heading for scene but it had gone by time I passed.”
