Appeal for dog owner to come forward after lurcher discovered in canal

The RSPCA are appealing for the owner of a dead dog that was found in a canal on Monday evening to come forward.

Shona Morley of the RSPCA discovered the dog in the canal near to Bridge 73 at the back of Manor Road in Fleckney.

Although the dog had a thick collar on it had not been micro chipped.

The dog is a black and white female lurcher.

Shona said that there doesn’t appear to be any evidence of foul play but that they are keen to let the owner know what has happened to the dog.

Shona suspects that the dog could have become lost in the cold weather and fallen through the ice.

She said: “It would be brilliant if we had an owner come forward. If they were searching for it would give an owner some closure.”
