A YOUNG chef competition was organised by the Rotary Club of Market Harborough.

The contest challenged young people to produce a meal for two on a budget.

Similar competitions are being organised by other Rotary clubs all over the UK.

The Harborough round took place in November at Robert Smyth Academy in in Burnmill Road, Harborough.

Seven finalists took their place in the competition and were judged by professional chefs, John Stew and Emma Spencer.

The finalists were Jodie Vie, Rihanna Hazelwood, Shannon Chase, Kieran Mullen, Joe Rose, Chole Wright and Lucy Fahy, who were given the task of designing and cooking a meal suitable for two adults, costing no more than £10 to produce.

Judges marked each of the contestants on choice, presentation, taste and skill.

Hilary Hearnshaw of the Rotary Club of Market Harborough said that the competition on the night was keen.

Winners on the night were Jodie Vie in first place, Chloe Wright as runner-up and Rhianna Hazlewood in third place.

Winners will now take on other opponents from other competitions at a contest of the East Midlands.
