A coast-to-coast cycle ride raised £6,500 for two charities close to the heart of the man who organised it.

The money was divided between Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK.

Craig Stapleton organised the coast-to-coast bike ride in July of last year when himself and a number of other cyclists took on the challenege.

The money was presented to the Harborough branches of both charities at the Oat Hill pub in Harborough.

Mr Stapleton, who lives in Douglas Road, Harborough decided to organise the cycle ride after losing a number of close friends and family in a short period of time.

There is now a chance to sign up for the second event organised by Mr Stapleton which will take place on June 13.

The cycle ride will take place from Harborough to Holyhead over three days.

If you would like to sign up to the challenge email Mr Stapleton at cstapleton1@aol.com.
