Extension for council chief
Anna Graves new council interim chief executive
THE INTERIM chief executive at Harborough District Council has had her contract extended to the end of March next year.
Anna Graves was appointed as Interim Chief Executive Officer and Head of Paid Service for the council on a six-month contract in April last year, following the departure of former chief executive Sue Smith.
The initial contract was extended in October by a further six months, taking it to March 31 this year.
The latest extension will see Mrs Graves oversee the Transformation Programme announced by the authority last year.
The scheme has set out to save at least £3 million over the next five years by transforming the services offered by the council and the way it uses its buildings.
The council has previously said it will look to share a management team and possibly a chief executive from March 2013 onwards.
The latest contract extension was agreed by councillors during a meeting of full council on January 16.
Financial details have not been revealed because discussions were held during closed session.
The council says this is a standard procedure when discussing the pay and personal contract details of an individual.
In a statement to the Mail this week, a spokesman said: “It was decided at the meeting of the Chief Executive Recruitment Sub Committee to recommend that Anna Graves’ contract be extended until March 31 2013.
“The matter was approved by council at its meeting on January 16.”
