A fashion show organised by Market Harborough Women’s Institute on Friday night at Harborough Congregational Church was as a big success.
Committee member Helen Salisbury said: “It was our first-ever fundraising event, bringing in about £370. We sold just over 80 tickets. It was also a really fun evening that worked because so many people pulled together to make it happen. Now we are in our second, successful year, it is important we raise money to pay for outgoings such as venue rental fees and speaker expenses.” President Hazel Stacey worked with the committee over several months to plan it and was helped by niece Samanatha Stacey who is studying event management in Sheffield. One of Sam’s tasks was to identify and co-ordinate the stallholders. Other local firms gave their time to help the models look even more beautiful than normal – Kara and her staff at The Beauty Manor and Paula from Randall Harrison.
