Glider crash lands in field

A GLIDER crashed in a field in Smeeton Westerby late yesterday afternoon (July 2).

Firefighters from Kibworth were called out to a field in Gumley Road just before 5pm.

The fire service's daily report said the glider was making a crash landing but did not specify why the plane had to make such a maneuver.

It also said the pilot was 'released prior to the fire service's arrival'.

The white glider had 'G-Rair' blue lettering on the side.

Police were also in attendance.

Updates to follow.
