Heroin found at town home

SYRINGES and heroin were found at a Harborough home during an early morning raid, a court heard.

Appearing at Harborough Magistrates' Court, Phillip North (30) pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing a class A drug.

Prosecutor Nikki Bennet said police entered North's home on August 5, last year. Asked whether there were any drugs in the home North admitted there were and told police the drugs and needles belonged to him and his partner.

Miss Bennet said North, of Park Drive, Harborough, told police both him and his girlfriend were drug users. The drugs found at his home had a street value of 60.

She added that North had a previous conviction for supplying drugs in 2006 which he was jailed for.

In mitigation, Mike Garvey said North had co-operated with police

making a full admission even before he had been charged.

Mr Garvey said North was in work and was not dependent on benefits. He added that he was complying with a drug worker assigned to him after the arrest.

Magistrates ordered him to pay a 300 fine as well as 85 of costs and a 15 surcharge.
