Join walk to help bereaved families

A MUM whose 13-year-old son died in a road accident is backing a fundraising walk in aid of a family bereavement charity.

Kate Mugridge, was helped by The Laura Centre after her son Adam died while he was cycling from their home in Lubenham to Welland Park College in Harborough in September 2006.

Now she is taking part in a charity walk in aid of the centre and is encouraging Harborough people to sign up in a bid to raise as much money as possible.

The Sunrise Charity Walk this Sunday is a five-mile walk which will set off from Arthingworth at 6am and make its way through countryside around Harborough.

The event will feature a breakfast snack and drink, provided by the Sainsbury's store in Harborough, and a balloon release.

There will be free parking for walkers and a prize for the top fundraiser.

The Leicester-based Laura Centre was founded in 1991 by Gail and Harry Moore, of South Kilworth, following the death of their daughter Laura from leukaemia at the age of five.

It provides free, confidential counselling for individuals and groups of people sharing bereavement experiences and helps about 500 people each year.

The centre needs to raise 500,000 each year to keep running.

To take part in the walk phone 0116 2556676 for a registration pack or visit www.thelauracentre.org.uk.
