Knitters thanked after big teddy bear response
A CAMPAIGN in Lutterworth to knit teddies which are given to children being treated for injuries in war zones has been a roaring success – with more than 200 so-far created.
The project is being co-ordinated in the town by Elaine Turner, from the Rotary Club of Lutterworth, and has been such a success that some bears have been given to the fire and ambulance services.
Studies have shown that children who have a teddy bear to cuddle recover more quickly from traumatic events.
Anyone in Lutterworth or the surrounding villages who can help, by either donating wool for more teddies, or by knitting their own using a pattern supplied by the Rotary Club, should contact Mrs Turner on 01455 553425.
4 A shop unit is being temporarily transformed into a charity shop by the Rotary Club of Lutterworth to help raise money for a number of good causes.
The shop, at 18 Church Street, which was formerly Blush, will be open between Friday, February 24, and Tuesday, February 28, except Sunday.
The club ran a similar temporary shop last year and raised about £1,200 in just a few days towards the eradication of polio.
