A TIGERS rugby player has officially opened a new play area provided by a developer in Kibworth.
Leicester Tigers prop and Kibworth resident Boris Stankovich joined with housebuilders Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes to open the play area.
Children living in the village came along to try out the new equipment before being treated to warm jacket potatoes in the nearby sales office.
John Reddington, managing director of David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “We’re delighted that the new play area is now open for the enjoyment of not only the residents living at our development, but also those residing in the wider village too.
“It’s a fantastic facility which I’m pleased to report received a big thumbs up from the first children who sampled the equipment and I’d like to thank the families and Boris for joining us on Sunday to celebrate its official opening.”
The new play area which was opened on January 29 is located towards Barratt Homes’ Kibworth Green development, south of Wistow Road.
It includes a selection of state of the art equipment including a multi-play unit, climbing mast and group swing.
Philip Lacey, sales director at Barratt Homes East Midlands, said: “We’re working alongside Barratt to develop an exciting new community that will not only provide quality new housing, but also enhance and build on the existing facilities in the village of Kibworth.
