THREE Gartree prison workers are celebrating after receiving prestigious awards for their work with vulnerable inmates.
Phil Taylor, Stephanie Simpson and Trevor Lorking have all received awards from The Butler Trust – an organisation which promotes excellence in prisons, probation and youth justice.
The trio have all been commended for their work on developing mentoring and support schemes in the prison’s F1 wing - where inmates suffering from learning disabilities, mental health issues and personality disorders are housed.
The Trust presents awards annually and, with only nine being given out in total this year, HMP Gartree took one third of the prizes on offer.
They will be presented with their awards by Princess Anne, at a ceremony next month.
A spokesperson for The Butler Trust said: “We are delighted to recognise the outstanding work being carried out on the F1 wing at HMP Gartree,
“This represents a significant achievement by both the Award Winners as well as by HMP Gartree.
“We look forward to welcoming the award winning staff to our Award Ceremony in March.”
