Review: A Yard of Tales, storytelling for adults
STORYTELLING for adults is becoming an increasingly popular art form and Thursday (September 2) saw the successful launch of Harborough's new storytelling club, A Yard of Tales.
In the unique and atmospheric setting of Joules Yard, an enthralled audience listened to a range of traditional tales, myths and legends, which evoked responses from laughter to shivers of fear.
It is not often that an evening's entertainment features a holy man who sat on cheese, a porridge-eating contest and a necklace of eyeballs!
The club is being organised and hosted by Kevin Walker, a very experienced and engaging storyteller.
At the inaugural session, he was joined by six other tellers, including ones from Hinckley, Cambridge, Birmingham and Derbyshire.
The club will take place at Joules Yard, off High Street in Harborough, on the first Thursday of every month.
The next session is on October 7 where Sophie Snell will be presenting her piece entitled The Seven Deadly Sins.
Lovers of the spoken word are recommended to find out more.
