ROYAL Wedding cake designer Fiona Cairns held a tea party in support of a cancer charity.

Mrs cairns held the event at her home in Weston By Welland as part of the launch of Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Blooming Great Tea Party campaign.

Maire Curie nurses and friends of Mrs cairn’s enjoyed some of her delicious cakes during the launch event last Thursday.

Mrs Cairns, who created the incredible eight-tier cake enjoyed by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and guests following their marriage in April, said: “I am supporting the Blooming Great Tea Party and hope everyone will bake a cake, pop on the kettle, invite a few friends round and help Marie Curie Cancer Care to care for more terminally ill people in their own homes.”

Marea Roberts, area fundraising manager for the charity, said: “We’re asking everyone in the community to host their own Blooming Great Tea Party for Marie Curie Cancer Care this summer.

“It’s such an easy way to get together with friends or family. The money raised by simply popping the kettle on will help more Marie Curie Nurses to provide free care to patients with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes.”
