LOCAL people are being urged to put their best foot forward for the big Sport Relief fun run through Harborough.

The event, held every other year, was officially launched last week and will again see a number of activities held in Harborough town centre.

The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile will be back for fun-runners and families.

It will be the third time since 2008 that a big Sport Relief event has been held in the town.

Date for the diaries this year is Sunday, March 25, and people from across the district are being urged to come together to show their support by entering at www.sportrelief.com

Setting off from the town’s Welland Park, the Harborough Mile is likely to be a big event with more than 400 people entering last time round, in 2010.

Entrants can choose to complete courses of one, three or six miles with all the money raised helping to change the lives of people living tough lives in the UK and in some the world’s poorest countries. Sport Relief is held in alternate years with Comic Relief.

District councillor Blake Pain said: “The Sport Relief Mile in Harborough is here and it’s your time to shine. From teeny-tots with their mums and dads to super sprinters up against the clock, there’s something for everyone on the big day. This is the third Sport Relief Mile in Harborough and it’s set to be bigger and better than ever.”

The Sport Relief weekend runs from Friday, March 23, to Sunday, March 25, with the run on the Sunday afternoon.
