An exciting £1m extension project to build a new drama and dance studio at
Lutterworth High School is underway.

The scheme will also include a new dining area and will see existing roofs, roof lights and doors replaced across the school.

The project is the second major stage of a masterplan to redesign the complex that has been developed over the last five years with the help of GSS Architecture.

Previous work has included the remodelling and refurbishment of the design block, school hall, staff office areas and entrance.

The new extension – set for completion by the end of the summer holidays – will incorporate a new drama and dance studio.

It will also have a canteen room which can also be used for training.

Nearly half of the project’s £1m budget has been provided by the Education Funding Agency following a successful bid submitted by the school last April. The remaining money has come from the school budget.

Headteacher Nora Parker is delighted.

She said: “It is a testimony to the excellent financial management of staff and governors that we have been able to assign such a significant sum of money from school funds without in any way compromising the quality of teaching and learning at the school.

“This is a really great achievement. We know that once the works are completed the students and staff will benefit enormously from the enhanced accommodation and facilities.”
