Updated: Pile driving work to continue into next week

Pile driving work at the former Ritz cinema site in Harborough is to continue into next week, developers have confirmed.

The work is the cause of the incessant thumping sound which will be familiar to anyone who works, lives, or has visited the town centre this week.

The pile driving at the former cinema site in Northampton Road started on Friday.

Churchill Retirement Living is building a retirement complex and shops there.

It said in a statement: “The piling works will be complete during the week commencing March 18. Due to the ground conditions, we have been recommended by our structural engineers to use driven piles on this site.”
