UPDATED: Roadworks misery set to last for seven days

MOTORISTS have reported major tailbacks driving into Harborough town centre this morning (Tuesday).

County Hall contractors are carrying out roadworks at the junction of Northampton Road and Springfield Street.

One of the lanes going southbound in Northampton Road is being dug-up.

Drivers coming into the town from the Desborough and East Farndon directions have reported about 20-minute delays.

A County Hall spokesman said: "The works at the junction are required to repair a private collapsed sewer.

"A Section 50 Licence has been approved and works were posted on the county council's What's On.

"The job should be complete within seven days and the traffic lights will be in position during this time."
